Dear Members,

International Conference

We are pleased to announce that the next SOSTEJE international conference will take place in Florence, Italy 8-10 October 2007 (scheduled opening ceremony on Sunday evening 7 October 2007), marking the 100th anniversary after the establishment of the Pro-Falasha Committee by Dr. Jacques Faitlovitch in conjunction with the local Jewish community in Florence, Italy.
It is apt that our conference will also be organized in cooperation with the local Jewish community of Firenze, under the direction of Rav Levi. The conference organizing committee is composed of Michael Corinaldi (Chair), Shlomo Akale and Rav Levi or his deputy. The conference academic committee is composed of Ephraim Isaac (Chair), Ruby Newman, Bat-Zion Eraqi-Klorman and Vittorio Morabito. We shall issue a call for papers for the conference by October 2006.

SOSTEJE Israel Committee AGM

The SOSTEJE Israel Committee will be holding its first AGM on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Ben-Zvi Institute from 15.00-16.00. All members are invited to attend. Members can join up to one week before the AGM (so that we still have time to organize lists).
The AGM will be followed by a symposium on Ethiopian Jewry from 16.00 – 19.30. Please mark down this date in your diaries. A more detailed programme will be issued nearer the date.

Membership
Membership dues paid at the Addis Abeba conference were for 2004 only. All members now have to pay dues for 2005-2006. The dues are $50 for 2 years, ($30 for students), or the shekel equivalent. Please send your money by mail with the membership form attached to:SOSTEJE c/o Prof. Michael Corinaldi, 36 Keren Hayesod St., Jerusalem 92149, Israel.
