Student Activities
SOSTEJE places great emphasis on student progress
and encourages scholarship among students.
Doctoral Support for Students of Ethiopian Origin in
Israel
SOSTEJE is proud to have initiated and facilitated a
move by which the Ministry of Absorption will fund
large scholarships for doctoral students studying at
Israel’s institutes of higher learning to the tune
of $16,000 p.a., which can be renewed for three
years. The Center for Absorption in Science at the
Ministry of Absorption will grant large scholarships
for Israeli students of Ethiopian origin, who wish
to research their own community. These grants will
be given to Ethiopian students who have an M.A.
degree and are either continuing to a PhD. or are
involved in research under the supervision of a
researcher/lecturer at a recognized university or
college. One such grant has already been approved at
the Weizman Institute, and others are in the process
of approval. For further information, see the
attached file –

Bar-Ilan University in July 2005 and
co-sponsored by the Open University, the Association
for the Advancement of Education (the Steering
Committee for Ethiopian Immigrants in the
Educational System) and the NCJW Research Institute
for Innovation in Education at the Hebrew
University.
