Events 2005-8

1. Establishment of Israeli branch of SOSTEJE as amuta registered with the Ministry of Interior.

2. Initiation of process with the Center for Absorption in Science at the Ministry of Absorption to grant large scholarships for Israeli students of Ethiopian origin, who wish to research their own community and thereby further research on the Beta Israel.

3. Organisation of First Student Conference on Ethiopian Jewry at Bar-Ilan University in July 2005.

4. Publication of six newsletters to date.

5. Publication of conference proceedings in: Parfitt, Tudor and Emanuela Trevisan Semi, eds. 2005. The Jews of Ethiopia: the Birth of an Elite, Routledge/Curzon, London.

6. Organisation of symposium on Ethiopian Jewry at Ben-Zvi Institute, Sept. 2006.
