Call For Papers: SOSTEJE Florence international
conference October 7-10, 2007. Details on our

The conference will open with a reception with the
Florence Jewish community on Sunday October 7 and
terminate on Wed. Oct. 10 in the late afternoon. All
lectures and events will take place on the campus of
the Florence synagogue.
All conference abstracts should be completed in
English. The length of the abstract should be a
maximum of 250 words. Abstracts will be accepted
till the end of June 2007 (extended deadline).
Conference Accomodation : SOSTEJE has reserved a
total of 40 beds at Hotel Arizona from 7-10/10/07 (3
nights) at reduced prices. Reservations should be

Travel scholarships for students:
Sosteje will grant five scholarships, $500 each.
Eligible to apply for scholarships are students
enrolled in M.A. or Ph.D. programs and whose
research proposals on Ethiopian Jews have been
officially approved. Proofs of eligibility are
requested. Candidates for scholarships must have the
proficiency to present a paper in English.
Priority will be given to candidates who cannot
receive travel grants from other sources. Details on

Membership dues are paid biennially. Dues are now
due for 2007-8. They entitle members to participate
in the Israeli AGM, reduced conference fees, and
bibliographies on Ethiopian Jewry. The dues are $50
for 2 years, and $30 for students, or the shekel
equivalent. Please send your money by mail to:

Registration dues for the Conference are as follows:
Until 31.7.2007 (early registration). Members cannot
present papers at the conference unless they have
paid membership dues and early registration.
